There are two primary areas it is advisable to consider. Firstly you need to uncover something they actually want to interpret, content is key. Ultimately you want to get them to read school books, however this is not the place to begin.
Remember that the more they look into the quicker and easier reading will acquire and then the easier their schoolhouse work will become. School work is much easier the more competent a reader you are.
So how do you choose something for your kid to understand? You have to tune this as to what your child enjoys. As far as the space should go I suggest a futon sofa bed in their room with a 'box' next to it so they can continue their books in the box.
