Audio books are becoming more and more popular as people with no time
and energy to sit down and read a book take advantage of iPods along
with MP3 players to listen to the most recent bestseller as they rush
through their particular daily lives. Where is the place of audio books for kids though, with a time when we are struggling to market literacy for all and encourage little ones to read?
Theycan work very well alongside published books for kids that
have appreciated the basics of reading but have to develop vocabulary.
They can sit down with the printed book and go through text as they
listen to that being read on a CD or MP3 download.
Not only does the reading aloud bring the story to life, in a time
when slowness of reading ability can frustrate children when they making
the effort to make out a plot line, but it means that they can cope
with more complicated vocabulary in comparison with they might otherwise
be able to help. Hearing a book read aloud teaches them the correct
pronunciation of words that might well be hard to work out from the
difficulties of English spelling.
By listening to the same narrative over and over as children like to
do, they can memorize it and will probably suddenly find that they can
actually 'read' the printed book with the help of their memory. This
soon means real reading as word recognition improves.
Of course if parents have time for it to read aloud to their children
this is invaluable in developing a love of reading, but today while we
are hard-pressed to find the time for more than a quick bed-time story,
audio books give us another way of satisfying our youngsters's demand
for more stories and present them the love of good guides and the
motivation to learn to read themselves. I don't think that they should
put back reading to your children, nothing is usually better than
snuggling up to Mom or Dad on the sofa, nevertheless they can supplement
reading time when Mother or Dad are too busy by sitting still!.
Another perfect way to use these individuals for kids is on long car
journeys. Take along a few favorite audio books as Cd downloads and as
long as just about every child has his own MP3 player you can get
through hours connected with tedious driving with barely a complaint!
I really do recommend that to each one child should have their own
process though. If you expect them make use of the car CD system you'll
end up listening to unlimited squabbles over what to listen in order to
next. Either that or you'll be screaming with boredom because they
repeat the same favourite story for the ninety-ninth time!
The huge range of books available as audio guides, from Harry Potter
to Roald Pigeon-pea plant, means that there is something for each and
every age group and endless variety, from your classics like Winnie the
Pooh as well as the Narnia series to the latest Philip Pullman.
If you want to build upwards a collection of kids' audio books in an
affordable way consider joining an online audio publication club, where
for a reasonable monthly fee you can down load one or more books every
thirty day period, according to your membership plan. Ones only problem
will be in resisting the enticing books on offer pertaining to adults and heading over to the youngsters' section!
